It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the sad demise of Mzee Charles Andrews Mboya which occurred on Saturday, February 24th, 2018, at Nairobi Women's Hospital, Nairobi. He was a long serving Trade Unionist, who once served as the Secretary General of Kenya Engineering Workers Union and recently retired from Kenya County Government Workers Union as Area Secretary - Nyanza Region. Beloved husband of Florence Weke Mboya. Father of Andrew Mboya, Linda Mboya, Davies Mboya, Didi (Dianne) Mboya and George Mboya. Grand-father of Violet Akinyi Mboya. Brother of Prof. L.A. Odero-Ogwel (UK), Dan Ojijo, Salome Odiawo, Yukabeth Ouko and Penina Omondi of USA.Brother of the late: Japheth Odhiambo, Greshon Nyabwa, Mark Otieno, Susana Aluoch and Loice Siwa. Charles was the son of the late Mzee Andrea Ogwel and Mama Rael Obuya and Mama Aska Jowi (both deceased ), of Konyango- Wang'adonji, Rachuonyo Constituency, Homa -Bay County. He was son in-law to Mzee Musa Orwe and Mama Hawa Orwe (both deceased). He was Uncle to and In-law to many including Peter Omondi, the late Tom Dola, Vice Chairman- ODM, Homa- Bay and Brethren to Jack Ranguma - Former Governor, Kisumu County.
Harambee to offset hospital and burial expenses will be held on Thursday 22nd, March, 2018, at All- Saints Cathedral - Nairobi, as from 5pm. Any contributions may be directed to Pay bill No. 855522, A/C. No. is Sender’s name.
There will be a Church Service on Tuesday 27th, March, 2018, at Nairobi Central Church (Maxwell), at 1pm.
The burial will be held on Friday 30th, March, 2018, at his home- Konyango Wanga’donji, Kendu-Bay, Homa-Bay County.
