Christian ‘Chris’ Oprisanu

At the time of his passing, Chris was 53 years old. He was born on the 26th September 1967, to Constanta Oprisanu and the late Mihai Oprisanu in Lași, Romania. He was the only brother to Ciprian Oprisanu and was raised mostly with his only sibling, other cousins and relatives. He moved to Kenya in 1994, where he gained an extended family.
Chris was educated at Constanta Primary and Secondary school in Lași, Romania and later the Electro-mechanical Lyceum for his Baccalaureate Diploma. He also attended the Polytechnic Institute of Iași-Romania for his University degree to doctorate education.
Chris served in the Romanian Army, following in his fathers’ footsteps, before he left his home country. He had a contract in Mogadishu, Somalia, as an Engineer and a businessman, he continued travelling around the world for different projects and specialization courses and later relocated to Nairobi, Kenya where he was working and living with his family.
At the time of his death, Chris was working on his own business, Technical Physics Ltd as Managing Director, and pursuing his passion for reviving classic vintage vehicles. Chris will be remembered as a loving, strong-willed, responsible, brilliant and joyful person who was also often the leading presence in any room.
Chris was married to Sophie Atieno Oprisanu and together they were blessed with four children; Michael, Daniel, Joan and their step-son Victor.
Chris had a large extended family, whose lives he touched and who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Mihai Oprisanu. He is survived by his mother, Constanta "Bubu" Oprisanu and Brother, Ciprian Oprisanu. He was the son-in-law to the late Nathan Obare, the late Joan Obare and Mary Atieno Yongo. He was in-law to Akinyi, Edward, Sarah, Ochiengi, Christine, Otieno, Vera, Wilberforce, Cisa (Ato) and the late John Junior and uncle to; Nathan, Loisa, Ethan, Yoel, Lakin, Issak, Maddox and Leonardo.
We, his family, loved Chris very much and believe that he is now with his father. May God be with them, bless them and may he rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church on Valley Road, on Thursday 28th, at 10am. We welcome all family, friends and colleagues to pray with us and celebrate the life of Chris Oprisanu.
