It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to eternal glory of Lay Canon Margaret Namutu Muruka, after a bravely fought battle with breast cancer.
Loving wife of Mwalimu Lay leader William Muruka Okumu. Dearly beloved and treasured Mum to Edith Muruka (Australia), Rhoda Simalla (Ndalu), the late John Okumu, Nancy Nasitsi (Butere), John Hosea Muruka (Nairobi), Christabel Muruka (Nairobi), Elizabeth Muruka (Australia), Pauline Muruka (Ogalo) and Emmanuel Muruka (Australia).
Caring mother in-law to Peter Simalla (Dar es Salaam), George Nasitsi (Butere), Joyce Muruka (Nairobi), Moses Ocheke (Nairobi), Daren Nimmo (Australia) and Ashleigh Muruka (Australia). Devotedly loving Grandma to Jeremy, Sophie, Daisy, Jesse, Michelle, Wincate, Jemimah, Vanessa, Jeremi, the late Cathy, Leon, Rodriguez, Joseph, Zawadi, Leakey, Evra and Basil.
She was the daughter of the late Mzee Michael Ekesa Odanga and Mama Melissa Nabwoba Ekesa. Sister to Rosemary, Benedict, Grace, Eunice, Joel, Roselida and Phanice. Cousin to Noah and the late Siphrosa among many others.
Daughter in-law to the late Mzee Assistant Chief John Okumu and the late Lay Leader Mama Joyce Okumu and Mama Jeniffer Awino. Sister in-law to Aggrey, Wycliffe, Maurice, Rtd. Bishop Beneah Salalah, Risper, the late Laban and the late George, Peter, Pamela, Helen, the late John, Linet, Penina, Pamela, Humphreys, Evelyne, Alice, and Judith.
Dear Aunty to the late Leonard, Benjamin, Winnie and many others. Much loved friend of many across generations.
The cortege leaves Montezuma Funeral Home – Nairobi on 3rd May 2021. Mama Margaret’s body will be laid to rest at Munami, Matungu Sub-County on Tuesday 4th May 2021.
Mama Margaret, thank you for modelling God’s amazing grace. We are comforted that you now rest in His unending love. Psalm 116.
